Wingspan sets the span

Aviation Hangars โ€” Wingspan sets the span

Hangar sizing is dictated by wingspan plus clearance either side, and by tail height at the door. Get those two numbers right and the rest of the building follows; get them wrong and the aircraft does not fit, which is not a fixable problem after the fact.

What to think about before you order

The door is the expensive component and the one with the longest lead time. Bifold and hydraulic doors need structural provision designed into the endwall from the start, so specify the door before the building is engineered.

Common uses

  • Private aircraft hangar
  • Maintenance hangar
  • Multi-aircraft storage
  • Airport and FBO facilities

Recommended profiles

These are the models that suit aviation hangars best. The right one depends mostly on whether you need usable wall height or the lowest cost per square foot.
