Large Workshops
When the project is bigger than the building was
Past about 40' of width the design conversation changes. You are no longer fitting a shop around equipment; you are laying out zones — receiving, fabrication, finishing, storage — and the building has to support all of them without a post in the middle.
What to think about before you order
Large shops usually justify an engineered slab, three-phase power planning and a serious look at overhead door placement, since moving material through the building becomes the daily bottleneck rather than floor area itself.
Common uses
- Commercial fabrication
- Fleet maintenance
- Large equipment restoration
- Multi-station production
Recommended profiles
These are the models that suit large workshops best. The right one depends mostly on whether you need usable wall height or the lowest cost per square foot.
